I Kid, I Kid
Kid Rock produced his new, self-titled Lava/Atlantic album, which is the follow-up to 2001's "Cocky." That set has been certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for U.S. shipments of 4 million copies and featured the No. 1 airplay hit "Picture," featuring Sheryl Crow or Allison Moorer.
Crow re-appears on the new set, co-writing and singing back up on "Run Off to L.A.," while ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons joins in on "Hillbilly Stomp." Elsewhere, Rock prays at the altar of classic rock, covering Bad Company's "Feel Like Making Love" and reworking a 24-year-old unreleased track from Bob Seger, "Hard Night for Sarah."
Other guests on "Kid Rock" include guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd on "Black Bob," and grizzled rocker David Allen Coe on "Son of Detroit," which re-interprets the latter's "Son of the South." Coe also co-wrote the bonus track "Single Father."
On Dec. 14, VH1 will air "A Kid Rock Christmas," a variety show featuring performances by Rock and special guests taped last week in Detroit.
