Atlantic Records has signed rapper Juvenile to a long-term, exclusive, worldwide deal. A new album is due in early 2005. The rapper was previously aligned with Cash Money/Universal, which released his sixth solo album, "Juve the Great."
That release is currently No. 7 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and has sold 768,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The cut "Slow Motion" has been No. 1 on Hot Rap Tracks for three weeks.
Additionally, Juvenile's UTP Records has joined the Atlantic family of labels. UTP is home to the Juvenile-led group of the same name, whose other members are Wacko and Skip. The trio is currently charting with the album "The Beginning of the End..." (UTP/Rap-A-Lot 4 Life), which is No. 37 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums roundup.
