The second "Totally Hits" compilation of the year will boast big singles from the likes of R&B artist Alicia Keys, country duo Big & Rich, hip-hop act OutKast and rock act Jet, among others. "Totally Hits 2004 Vol. 2" is due Oct. 5 via Warner Strategic Marketing.
The set leads off with "Turn Me On" by Kevin Lyttle featuring Spragga Benz, which peaked last week at No. 4 on Billboard's Hot 100. Other R&B/hip-hop hits include OutKast's "Roses," Keys' "If I Ain't Got You," Twista's "Overnight Celebrity" and Monica's "U Should've Known Better."
The set also includes the smash "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," a duet between Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett that spent several weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Big & Rich's "Save a Horse" also represents the country genre.
Along with Maroon5's "This Love," mainstream and modern rock gets it due with Jet's "Cold Hard B****" and the Darkness' "I Believe in a Thing Called Love."
The "Totally Hits" line was launched in 1999 as a joint venture between BMG and Warner Music Group. It is patterned after the "NOW That's What I Call Music" series, itself modeled on the wildly successful U.K. series of the same name. Previous volumes in the "Totally Hits" series have sold more than 10 million copies to date, according to the label. It has also spawned "Totally Country" and "Totally Dance" compilations.
Released in May, the first volume of "Totally Hits 2004" (BMG/Warner Music Group), opened at No. 14 on The Billboard 200. That set also featured cuts from Keys, Jet and Maroon5, as well as songs by Sean Paul, R. Kelly, Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken, among others.
