Jill Scott unveils her sophomore studio album, "Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2," this week via Hidden Beach Recordings. The Philadelphia-based artist drafted the production talents of James Poyser, Andre Harris & Vidal Davis, Mama's Boys' Ivan & Carvin, Raphael Saadiq, P-nut, Pete Kuzma and Ant Bell. The 15-track album includes the songs "Golden," "Whatever," "Fact Is (I Need You)," "Cross My Mind" and "Petition."
"Music is supposed to touch people and act as the bridge between one human being and another," Scott says. "I want listeners to feel something when they experience this album -- there are songs to remind us to get wild, be quiet and also, be revolutionary."
"Beautifully Human" will be the follow-up to Scott's 2000 debut, "Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1." That set peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 17 on The Billboard 200. It has sold more than 2.26 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
