2000 - Singer/songwriter Peter Yarrow loses a Larrivee guitar that he has played on every of Peter, Paul & Mary recording and every one of the trio's concerts since 1973. Prized for its sound, the six-string guitar goes missing on a Delta airlines flight from Washington, D.C. to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Yarrow posts a $500 reward for the return of the guitar.
1999 - The Los Angeles Times announces that a former L.A. police officer is a suspect in the 1997 shooting death of rapper Notorious B.I.G. It is suspected, the report maintains, that ex-officer David Mack, who is at the time serving a prison term for bank robbery, arranged for a friend, Amir Muhammad, to shoot the rapper.

1957 - Donny Osmond is born in Ogden, Utah. The seventh son of George and Olive Osmond, Donny becomes a member of the Osmonds in 1963. His biggest solo single is the No. 1 song "Go Away Little Girl." After a 13-year hiatus, Osmond hits the pop charts in 1989 with the No. 2 song "Soldier of Love."
