Following throat surgery in October and subsequent months of vocal rest, Adele was back and better than ever tonight (Feb. 12) at the Grammys.
The U.K. songstress was in high spirits even before the performance of "Rolling in the Deep," taking home four out of the six Grammy Awards she was nominated for, including Song of the Year (for "Rolling in the Deep") and Best Pop Solo Performance (for "Someone Like You").
Taking the stage in her second retro black dress of the night, Ms. Adkins showed off her vocal chops with a few stanzas of a cappella riffing before a full band and back-up singers busted in. The year's best-selling single came to life on its own -- no cheesy medley, just the voice that enchanted millions, back on full display after months of silence. The star-studded crowd approved, greeting Adele with a standing ovation, which she accepted with a warm beam. Watch below.
As no-frills as the performance was, it was one of the best of the evening -- so far. But anything can happen in the final moments, especially with Jennifer Hudson's Whitney Houston tribute still to come.
