Eighties punk rock was fused with sweet femininity, school marm charm, and military threads at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show on Tuesday (Febuary 14).
Seen + Heard at Fashion Week
As remixes of classic punk rock songs by the likes of Public Image Ltd. reverberated in the studio, the Marc By Marc Jacobs line walked the runway. According to reports on the scene , the hip designer sent models down the runway in cat-eye-framed glasses, velvet dresses, and lace-up booties. The badass rock vibe continued with oversized '80s graphic sweaters taking form in bold florals, checks and polka dot prints.
The rocker collection did, however, have a touch of femininity to it, with pops of red ensembles and ruby red lipstick on the models. Besides the punches of red, Jacobs colored the collection with a cool gray palette - white, blue, and black ran ramped as a few metallic pieces made their way down the catwalk.
The possible highlight of the show was a blue jumpsuit with red and white-stripped arm detailing, paired with gray motorcycle boots and a felt hat -- a look that epitomized Jacobs' punk rock inspiration while simultaneously speaking to the military trend.
