Fiona Apple 's forthcoming album may have a 23-word title attached to it, but the first single from the beloved singer-songwriter's fourth album is short, sweet and simple. "Every Single Night" was released on Monday morning (Apr. 23) and previews "The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do."
"I just wanna feel everything," Apple sings in a particularly tortured fashion on the track, which combines a sprightly arrangement with an exhausted ode to self-imprisonment. Apple performed the track, along with a few other new tunes, during a pair of performances at South By Southwest last month.
"The Idler Wheel," the follow-up to Apple's 2005 effort "Extraordinary Machine," is due out June 19 on Epic. On the same day, Apple kicks off a 27-date headlining trek in Ithaca, N.Y., which includes a stop at Randall's Island in New York for the Governors Ball Music Festival on June 24.
