Fans may not have to wait much longer for Janelle Monae's two upcoming albums, scheduled to debut this year.
Last Friday (June 22), the singer premiered two new tracks during her set at the Toronto Jazz Festival. The first track, "Dorothy Dandridge Eyes" keeps within the jazz genre with a dash of the blues. "Electric Lady" shows Monae experimenting with a funky-D.C. go-go vibe.
While there isn't a concrete date for her albums, according to an interview with Kansas City blog Back to Rockville late last year, Monae is letting her 'soul clock' guide her.
"I will release them according to my soul clock; so I reserve the right to change that," she said. "But I will try to stick to the scheduled release dates, which I know but can't say."
Let's hope her "soul clock" stays tuned with 2012.
