With a slew of album sales and a successful world tour, 'The Throne' has yet to step down. An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of Jay-Z's [1] and Kanye West's [2] year-old album, "Watch the Throne," was released yesterday (August 8).
Directed, photographed, and edited by Robert Lopusk, the documentary depicts the duo completing the album in Sydney, Australia. Using only a flip camera at times, the filmmaker behind 'Ye's "Power" video was also able to capture intimate moments which included brief cameos from Beyoncé [3] and Australian-born actor, Russell Crowe.
"In the world of hip-hop, anybody who does something different is a genius, anybody who does something successful is making history," said Lopusk in an interview with Paradigm Magazine [4] about the making of the film. "You know it all becomes these exaggerated, bombastic endeavors. And so, for me, I was not interested in that; I was more interested in the smaller moments. The quiet power of talent."
