The Tedeschi Trucks Band will headline the inaugural Sunshine Blues Festival, to be held Jan. 18 2013 at Centennial Park in Fort Myers, Fla.
The three-day fest will continue Jan. 19 to Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton and end Jan. 20 at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. The festival will feature two stages of live bands with most acts performing all three dates.
Live Nation Florida president Neil Jacobsen said putting the show together had been a "labor of love." He added, "We are very excited to bring a world class Blues Festival to Florida as an annual event."
While maybe a labor of love, the festival boasts an impressive lineup, including Dr. John (performing St. Petersburg and Boca Raton only), contemporary guitar legend Walter Trout; Louisiana slide wizard Sonny Landreth; Allman Brothers drummer Jaimoe's Jasssz Band; the Wood Brothers; British blues guitarist Matt Schofield; Big Sam's Funky Nation; Florida guitarist Bobby Lee Rodgers; Joe Louis Walker; and guitarist Sean Chambers.
Headliners the Tedeschi Trucks Band, featuring husband-and-wife musicians Susan Tedeschi and guitarist Derek Trucks, won a Grammy this year for Best Blues Album for "Revelator," which debuted at No. 12 on on the Billboard 200.
Tickets to the three-day event went on sale Oct. 6 at livenation.com.
