As this year's NFL season nears its halfway mark, Beyonce  announces her own 'Countdown to Touchdown.' During the charting week, the pop star announced via her website that she'll be performing the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII, spurring a jump in her Social 50 ranking.
The Social 50 chart ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, using a formula that blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.
The announcement, 'liked' over 140,000 times on Beyonce's Facebook page, helped usher in 319,000 new fans overall, elevating her five positions on the tally (20-15).
The two stars of "Beauty and a Beat," Justin Bieber  and Nicki Minaj , both continue to rise on the Social 50, as the hit video soars in popularity and breaks the 40-million views mark. Bieber rises 3-2, with "Beat" contributing to an 18% increase in weekly video views and more than 300,000 fans to his Twitter and Facebook fanbase. Minaj breaks into the top 10 (19-5), experiencing a 34% gain in weekly video views and adds more than 175,000 followers to her fanbase on Twitter and Facebook.
Carly Rae Jepsen  rises 32-26 in the midst of Minneapolis, Winnipeg and Saskatoon dates on her international tour. During the charting week, she dropped a lyric video for new single "This Kiss," which gains 1.5 million hits. However, as she explains in the video's description, the clip is just an example video. "I'll be picking my favorite video and the person who made it will have their video featured on my website, Facebook and Twitter, along with some autographed goodies and a personal Skype call from me and the band!" Such fan interaction is paying off for Jepsen, as the Scooter Braun signee experiences a six-position lift with the help of 120,000 new Facebook fans and 80,000 Twitter followers gained during the chart week.
Wiz Khalifa  re-enters at No. 37, generating buzz leading into his upcoming "O.N.I.F.C." release by releasing a free mixtape, "Cabin Fever 2." Available for free on free mixtape site datpiff.com, the tape helped Khalifa to generate 150,000 new fans overall.
Rounding out the Social 50's top 10, PSY  continues to dominate at No. 1, Adele  tumbles 2-3 and Taylor Swift  holds at No. 4. Katy Perry  climbs 7-6, followed by Rihanna  (10-7), One Direction  (14-8), Eminem  (13-9) and Pitbull  (9-10).
