The singer also shares details on his Whitney Houston collabo, "I Look to You."
Although he just released a new album, "Write Me Back," last summer, R.Kelly is already moving onto his next projects, he tells The Juice in a new video interview. While on his 22-date "Single Ladies" tour, Kellz is prepping the release of the next chapters of his "Trapped in the Closet" video-musical saga, as well as his 12th studio album, "Black Panties."
First up, the latest installment of his much-discussed "Trapped in the Closet" series will premiere on IFC on Friday, Nov. 23. "It's crazy because I didn't think I could write any more chapters, but when I got into the studio and started [to] put that track up... the weirdest thing happened, " R. Kelly tells The Juice. "I started hearing characters. I started hearing verses. The story started to come to me."
Meanwhile, the singer has been in the studio working on his "mixture of '12 Play,' 'TP-2.com' and a little bit of 'Happy People'" album, "Black Panties." "When i was in my last sold out show, when I was doing 'Strip for You,' some girl threw her panties out at the audience when i had the mic out," Kellz recalls how the album title came to be. "And out of nowhere these panties landed on my arm and I said, 'That's a sign.'"
Aside from working on his own projects, R. Kelly has recently collaborated with Kanye West on G.O.O.D. Music's "Cruel Summer," an upcoming song "Trouble Man" off T.I. 's album of the same name, and also the Whitney Houston collabo, "I Look To You," off "I Will Always Love You - The Best of Whitney Houston."
