Justin Bieber 's signature swoop haircut is no more: a few hours after writing on Twitter that he was "thinking about getting a haircut" yesterday (Feb. 21), the pop star confirmed that he now has a new 'do.
"Yeah so it's true...i got a lil haircut," Bieber wrote . "I like it...and we are giving all the hair cut to CHARITY to auction. Details coming soon."
Bieber cut his hair on the same day that he filmed a video for "That Should Be Me," his collaboration with Rascal Flatts that appears on his "Never Say Never -- The Remixes" album released on Valentine's Day. The singer posted a photo from the Los Angeles video shoot on Twitter, while TMZ has posted more up-close photos of Bieber's hairstyle, which tries for a scruffier and more adult look.
"It has great presence and does not look like many male pop artists of now. It is more retro but with the modern edge that makes it relevant for today," says Alain Pinon, Partner at Salon AKS and L'Oréal Professionnel Stylist. "To me, this new style brings out a new sense of affirming himself and being a more mature and established artist."
Although Bieber will no longer sport the swoop himself, the famous haircut will be displayed on the wax figures of the pop star that will be the latest celebrity replicas at Madame Tussauds, the wax museum announced today. Bieber will join other replicated pop singers like Gwen Stefani , Rihanna and Lady Gaga when his wax figure is put on display in New York, London and Amsterdam beginning in March.
"I'm honored to be getting my own wax figures at Madame Tussauds New York, London and Amsterdam," Bieber said in a statement. "To be immortalized in wax alongside some of my idols -- Michael Jackson , Prince , Beyonce and my mentor, Usher -- is incredibly exciting and very cool."
Last month, Bieber expressed interest in cutting his hair after the Feb. 11 release of his 3D biopic, "Never Say Never," and its subsequent press run.
