BBC's Radio 1 Live Lounge is quickly becoming the destination for pop stars put their own stripped-down touches on others' Top 40 hits. First Bruno Mars morphed Katy Perry's "California Gurls" into an earnest slow jam , and now Avril Lavigne gives Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" an acoustic twang.
"TiK ToK" takes on a totally different feeling sans Auto-Tune and beats, though the talk-singing seems even more out of place in this version. Plus, we never imagined an acoustic song featuring the words "crunk" and "po-po."
But Avril, who's more of a bad girl than a Ke$ha-type party chick, has fun with it, so we'll take it!
Lavigne's first album in four years, "Goodbye Lullaby," dropped today (Mar. 8).
