Aretha Franklin's New Album Arriving May 3
"Aretha: A Woman Falling Out of Love," the 38th studio album from Aretha Franklin , will be available exclusively at Walmart stores and Walmart.com beginning May 3. The 12-track album, which features first single "How Long I've Waited," is Franklin's first release since undergoing surgery last December.
Maroon 5  and Train  will co-headline a North American summer tour that kicks off July 22. The Grammy winners will play 40 dates with opening acts Matt Nathanson and Gavin DeGraw, including a stop at California's Hollywood Bowl. The first tickets will go on sale Friday (Apr. 29).
"Ninety Miles" Documentary To Make Festival Rounds
With musical documentaries garnering buzz at this week's Tribeca Film Festival, the final touches are being placed on a candidate for next season's film festivals. "Ninety Miles," which chronicles a journey to Cuba by the vibraphonist Stefon Harris, saxophonist David Sanchez and trumpeter Christian Scott, will be submitted to film festivals prior to its release on DVD by Concord Music Group. The documentary chronicles the jazz recording Harris, Sanchez and Scott made in Havana, Cuba, with pianists Rember Duharte and Harold Lopez-Nussa and their quartets. The album, also titled "Ninety Miles," will be released June 21 on Concord Picante.
Former Destiny's Child  member Farrah Franklin was arrested for disorderly conduct in California on Saturday (Apr. 23). Franklin, 29, was booted from Destiny's Child in 2000 after five months with the group. According to a booking sheet, Franklin was released from custody later that day on $100 bail. ( TMZ )
Brad Paisley  will release his ninth studio album, "This is Country Music," on May 23 -- one day earlier than originally planned. The CMA Entertainer of the Year winner worked with producer Frank Rogers on the 15-track album.
