Lil Wayne will team up with Mary J. Blige , Pitbull will rock the stage with Ne-Yo and Nayer, and Far*East Movement will be joined by both Snoop Dogg and Ryan Tedder for special collaborative performances at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, which will air Sunday (May 22) from 8-11pm ET/PT on ABC, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Taylor Swift , Bret Michaels , Sarah Hyland, Randy Jackson, Lucy Hale and Eric Stonestreet have also been added as presenters at the ceremony, joining previously announced stars Justin Bieber , Selena Gomez , Kylie Minogue , Trey Songz , Scott Weiland and Joe Jonas, among others.
A hip-hop superstar will collide with an R&B queen when Lil Wayne joins Mary J. Blige to perform "Someone to Love Me," the first taste of Blige's forthcoming album, "My Life II: The Journey Continues." The song is already a top 40 hit on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart -- marking Blige's 42nd top 40 R&B hit, which is the most by a female artist since 1990. Meanwhile, Lil Wayne is prepping for the release of "Tha Carter IV," his highly anticipated new album featuring the hit single "6 Foot 7 Foot."
Pitbull is used to high-profile collaborations -- he recently teamed with Usher for "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and Jennifer Lopez for "On the Floor." The Latin music star will command the spotlight at the Billboard Music Awards, however, when Ne-Yo and Nayer join Pitbull to perform his new hit, "Give Me Everything," which is currently No. 4 on the Hot 100. The track, featured on Pitbull's forthcoming album "Planet Pit," is his seventh top 10 song on the tally since 2009.
After climbing to the top of the Hot 100 with "Like a G6" last fall, electro-pop group Far*East Movement will perform two of its follow-up hits, "Rocketeer" and "If I Was You (OMG)," with the help of Ryan Tedder and Snoop Dogg, respectively. Snoop Dogg recently released his 11th studio album, "Doggumentary," while OneRepublic frontman Tedder will join the rest of his alt-rock group for a performance at the Billboard Music Awards.
Along with the collaborative performances, the Black Eyed Peas , Rihanna , Keith Urban , Taio Cruz , Cee Lo Green , Lady Antebellum , Nicki Minaj , Ke$ha , and OneRepublic will take the stage at the ceremony. Beyoncé will receive the 2011 Billboard Millennium Award for her career achievements, while Neil Diamond will receive the 2011 Billboard Icon Award and deliver a special performance.
Rihanna, Eminem , Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber lead the finalists for the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, which were announced in April at a press conference in Las Vegas. Hosted by Ken Jeong, the awards will take a holistic look at artist performance based on key fan interactions with music, including sales data shared by Nielsen SoundScan, radio airplay monitored by Nielsen BDS, streaming data measured by Tubemogul and Nielsen BDS, social media consumption gauged by Next Big Sound and tour grosses tracked by Billboard Boxscore. Finalists and winners are determined by chart performance and social and streaming activity as chronicled in Billboard magazine and on Billboard.com during the eligibility period of Feb, 28, 2010 and Mar. 1, 2011.
