Mayer Hawthorne's combination of classy blazers with flashy dunks upholds his style standard - flashy but classy. Taking cues from swagger greats such as Frank Sinatra, Hawthorne pays homage both musically and aesthetically to the past. "Frank was a G, man. His fedora game was amazing. His pocket square game was amazing. He always looked sharp - even when he was wasted at 2 A.M."
Yet Hawthorne is quick to point out the accoutrements that would have befuddled the refined retro crooners - a turntable watch? DJ AM Dunks? A rolled up blazer?
"I've been rocking a lot of blazers with the sleeves rolled up, something about that is really comfortable to me. There's something fly about rolling up the sleeves on a blazer. A blazer is seen as upscale; it's got to be perfect. I'm all about wearing things in different ways."
Mayer Hawthorne is a man with an eye for the details, dunks and situationally appropriate glasses.
"The jacket is a piece by these guys from Norway called Mood to Norway. They're real big on farming and partying. The told me that this embroidery on the sleeve is the number of registered farming tractors in Norway. They're all about farming and drinking excessive amounts of champagne."
"I like it because it's flashy but classy. Its got pink on the inside. The details are flashy but the outside is straight classy."
"I've been a DJ my whole life, so that's why it's a Technics 1200 turntable watch. I always drempt of it as a kid. And now I got it. This is a model that Flud makes. I have my own signature model of this watch coming out soon. It's going to have my heart record on the turntable and my little logo on the bottom."
"The Adidas. These are custom made, one of a kind, just for me. They presented these to me at Lollapalooza when I performed there a couple months ago. Unbelievable. These are definitely one of the coolest things anyone has ever given me."

"These glasses are Electric Visual - they're the Detroit model, which I love. I love anything that has to do with Detroit"
"The other glasses are Oliver Peoples. These are more of my everyday glasses; they're a little more essential. But sunglasses are important too, when you're out drinking henny and ginger ale until three in the morning."

Mayer's Travel Essentials
DJ AM Nike Dunks
"These are my DJ AM dunks which are some of my all time favorites, partly because AM was a homie and they're also some of the dopest kicks. They have the Technics 1200 pattern on the back which is one of the dopest details ever."
Custom Made Pajamas
"The PJs! Yeah, I had those tailored-I get almost all of my clothing tailored-and the pajamas are no exception. Those come with me everywhere I go."
Flud Turntable Watch
"I have my own signature model of this watch coming out soon. It's going to have my heart record on the turntable and my little logo on the bottom." See style details for more quotes.
Oliver Peoples Glasses
"The biggest travel essential is my portable turntable, for sure. I don't go anywhere without that. And a boatload of D batteries - it runs on six DJ batteries. D MOTHERFU**A D."
Olympus Stylus Epic Camera
"It has a 2.8-macro lens in it, which is really rare for a compact point-and-shoot camera. I love shooting with film. It's really small and compact; I can carry it around in my pocket. I can just pull it out and slide the thing open.Yeah, it's a film camera. I've been documenting all of my journeys around the world and touring with this thing."
