French producer debuts new Cam’ron-featuring remix on Miami Music Week mix.
French producer Para One (aka Jean-Baptiste de Laubier) has a busy few weeks ahead of him. On top of his slew of back-to-back tour dates (including several appearances during Miami Music Week), the Paris-based artist is gearing up to unleash an EP centered around "Every Little Thing," a track from last summer's “Passion” album.
On the revamped version, Grammy-nominated hip-hop kingfish Cam'ron joins French rapper and longtime Para One collaborator Teki Latex of the Parisian rap quartet TTC. The joint effort unites de Laubier's past as TTC's resident producer with his recent explorations in voluptuous electro-funk and R&B sounds. "Ayo Para One, what up homie," Cam'ron intones over the first metallic clanks of percussion and bobbing bass tones, and from there the beat unravels into an ebbing R&B flow to accompany the rapper's laid-back verse.
Para One uses this new and improved version to close out his "Miamix," a short set he composed to give us a tantalizing glimpse of what he has in store for his upcoming gigs. The mix, streamed below, covers an astounding amount of ground in its 45 minutes. It opens with a classic tune from Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez of the legendary New York house/garage duo Masters at Work, before romping through retro-leaning drum machine beats by Night Slugs label boss L Vis 1990, a show-stopping juke-influenced number by fellow Parisian Bambounou, and a stark warehouse banger from Surkin's latest release.
Check out Para One's upcoming live dates, along with the "Miamix." The "Every Little Thing" EP drops on March 25.
