Azealia Banks has picked another Twitter rumble, this time taking fire at legendary British guitar band the Stone Roses.
Banks and the Stone Roses have been traversing Australia on the traveling circus that is the Future Music Festival . Apparently it hasn't been the happiest of travels.
The N.Y. rapper unleashed a tirade against the reunited Manchester four-piece group, claiming they hijacked her March 8 set by soundchecking as she sang.
"Big apologies on behalf of the Stone Roses to my fans at the festival today," Banks wrote in the opening salvo. "My ex tour manager made a pact with the Stone Roses saying they'd sabotage my set because I fired him. And they decided to check their equipment behind me during my set. Fuck those old saggy white n***as Stone Roses. I wish them nothing but excrement and death."
Her comments were later removed from Twitter. She's since claimed the band had apologized to her backstage. She also boasted that she and the Stone Roses' frontman nearly came to blows. “I saw Ian Brown backstage before Prodigy's set and he charged at me. We LEGIT almost got into a fist fight.” She continues, “I'm more rock and roll than he is. I would've won.”
Both sides have history of this type of blow-up. In 1998, Brown was jailed for four months after threatening a stewardess on board a flight by threatening to cut off her hands.
Banks had a particularly venemous Twitter battle with Perez Hilton earlier this year. And when the she was last in Australia , she left with a rant on Twitter about how her sound had been wrecked by someone else. After played an abbreviated, 25-minute show at the Splendour in the Grass fest last July, she wrote, “I'm super sorry about how short my set was at @ SITG. We used the festival's equipment and it wasn't the best gear!"
Banks will release "Yung Rapunxel,” the lead single from her forthcoming debut “Broke with Expensive Taste” on March 26.
