Founded S2 in 1991 with Muff Winwood.
Virgin Records U.K. managing director Ferdy Unger-Hamilton is continuing to strengthen the label's management with the announcement today (March 27) that Lincoln Elias will take on from April 18 the newly created position of A&R executive.
Elias joins from SonyBMG, where he was most recently A&R Director for S2, the Sony Music label he started in 1991 together with veteran executive Muff Winwood. S2's roster included Terence Trent D'arby, Des'ree, Roachford, Reef, Toploader and Jamiroquai.
Elias reports to Unger-Hamilton. He will work alongside head of A&R Nick Burgess, who also reports to Unger-Hamilton. Virgin U.K.'s roster includes Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, Rolling Stones, The Thrills, The Kooks, Placebo, among others.
Unger-Hamilton commented, "Lincoln is as good as the best there is, simple as that. His track record speaks for itself. To have a guy as nice and as good with artists working alongside me at Virgin is an honor and a pleasure."
Universal Music executive Unger-Hamilton was appointed  managing director of Virgin Records U.K. in January.
In February, he elevated Virgin veteran  Mark Terry to the new role as GM, Virgin Records U.K.
