Larry Mestel's Primary Wave Music Publishing has acquired 50% of famed songwriter Holly Knight's interest in songs she has co-written for such icons as Tina Turner and Heart.
The publisher paid a sum in the "significant seven-figure" range, according to Knight's business manager, Tina Fasbender.
The deal includes many of the international hits that Knight has co-written, like Tina Turner's "The Best" and "Better Be Good to Me," Heart's "Never," Pat Benatar's "Love is a Battlefield," Hall and Oates' "Soul Love" and Aerosmith's "Ragdoll." Primary Wave has an ownership interest in all songs written by Knight before Sept. 1, 2006.
Under the agreement, finalized on March 23, Primary Wave will also be administering the songs worldwide except for those titles currently administered under agreements still in effect with other publishers; titles and publishers for the other agreements were not provided.
