Lyle Lovett and Emmylou Harris will take to the seas together to headline the inaugural Cayamo music cruise, which will set sail Feb. 4 through Feb. 10. With other guests including Shawn Colvin, Buddy Miller, Patty Griffin and John Hiatt, the cruise will take fans through Cozumel, Mexico, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica.
"I was asked if I wanted to do a cruise and I immediately said no, because I've never been on a cruise. The idea of going on a boat, it seems a little claustrophobic," Harris recently told Billboard.com. "And then they said, well Buddy's doing it, and Buddy Miller is one of my favorite people in the whole world. I thought, well, if Buddy is doing it then I guess I'll do it, and then, of course, I found out about all the other people that I'm real fans of, and friends with. And it is February, and we will be able to get out of Nashville. "
Fans can expect Harris and Lovett to revisit some of their previous collaborations, as well as some other unique combinations of the songwriters. Tickets for Cayamo: A Journey Through Song go on sale June 25.
The event is organized by Sixthman, the same company behind the upcoming Ben Folds, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Barenaked Ladies cruises.
As previously reported, Harris will on Sept. 18 release an 80-song boxed set via Rhino. A new studio album is also in the works.
