Dr. Hans Herwig Geyer, head of the communications department at GEMA, is leaving the German collection society at the end of the year.
Geyer, who has been head of communication since 1993, is quitting voluntarily but has given no details of his future plans. A successor has yet to be named.
In a statement, Dr. Harald Heker, GEMA's chairman of the board, says: "With Dr. Geyer, GEMA loses a personality that for years has rendered great services for GEMA nationally and internationally. We wish Dr. Geyer all the best for his future success."
In 1996, Geyer was elected president of the communications committee of CISAC (International Confederation of Authors and Composers Societies), the umbrella organization for the world's collection societies.
He is also a member of committees at various national and international institutions.
