Ian Hanson is stepping down as EMI Group COO with immediate effect, the music major said today.
Hanson was promoted in January to COO from EMI Music senior VP, chairman's office, reporting to then-EMI Group CEO Eric Nicoli. Nicoli was ousted in the weeks after Guy Hands' equity house Terra Firma acquired EMI Group in August.
"We thank Ian for his contribution and wish him well in his future career," said Hands, chairman of EMI Group, in a statement issued today.
On an interim basis, Mike Clasper, who joined the EMI investor board last month, will assume Hanson's worldwide duties, which involved responsibility for the recording division's business affairs and operations functions, including global distribution, manufacturing and digital supply chain.
Clasper, a former CEO of airports operator BAA, has been reviewing the development of EMI's manufacturing, logistics and sales operations.
"With his experience of running international businesses at a very senior level," adds Hands, "Mike will ably support the EMI recorded music business."
