The Verve, Chemical Brothers, Gnarls Barkley and Linea 77 are among the 144 acts confirmed for the Italia Wave Love Festival, to be held July 16 to 19 in the city of Livorno, on the Tuscan coast.
The festival, which combines indie rock, literary gatherings, film viewings and stand-up comedy, was founded as the "Arezzo Wave Love Festival" in 1987 and over the years has helped introduce a number of artists to Italy, most notably Ben Harper. It was re-packaged as the "Italia Wave Festival" in 2007 and moved from Arezzo to Florence, while this year it has shifted to Livorno.
The Festival is administered by the Arezzo Wave Love Foundation, which has also been active in promoting Italian acts abroad. It has held showcases at MIDEM and developed a relationship with the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.
