The Middle Eastern Kingdom of Jordan will host a month-long music and arts festival this summer.
Mika, Diana Krall and Placido Domingo are just some of the artists confirmed to play the Jordan Festival, to be held July 8-Aug. 9 at Amman Petra, in Jerash and on the Dead Sea.
The performing arts festival, organized by the Jordan Tourism Board, is the latest signal that the Middle East is heating up as a live music destination.
Dubai, in particular, is embracing the live music scene. The United Arab Emirates city-state has taken strides to exploit its standing as a holiday destination of note, by putting on a growing number of outdoor concerts and festivals in recent months, including Center Stage Management Dubai Desert Rock Festival in March, and the Urban Desert festival the following month.
Live music superpowers Live Nation and AEG Live have separately made strategic acquisitions to boost their presence in the region.
