Bruce Springsteen will make his U.K. festival debut at this year's Hard Rock Calling event, held June 27 to 28 in London's Hyde Park, according to organizers.
Announced as the June 28 headliner with his E Street Band, Springsteen will head a bill also featuring U.S. stadium act the Dave Matthews Band and newcomers the Gaslight Anthem.
If the 45,000-capacity show does indeed mark his first festival appearance in Britain, that would suggest the Boss won't be headlining Glastonbury festival that same weekend as has been rumoured. The Glastonbury weekend concludes on June 28.
Last October, Live Nation announced a deal with Royal Parks that secured the London site as a venue for major events until 2011 (Billboard.biz, Oct. 27 2008). As well as Hard Rock Calling, Live Nation has also staged the O2 Wireless festival, Live 8 and Party in the Park at the site.
Hard Rock Calling tickets are on sale from Friday (Feb. 13). More acts are to be announced in the coming weeks.
