Universal Music Finland has appointed Jarkko Nordlund as its new managing director, effective May 1.
He will report to Vico Antippas, president of Nordic, Central and Eastern Europe at Universal Music International. Nordlund will leave his post as chief executive of pay TV broadcaster Viasat to join the major, also bringing experience from television company C More Entertainment/CANAL+ and its DBS platform Canal Digital in Finland.
Nordlund will succeed Gugi Kokljuschkin, who ends a 17-year tenure as managing director to take on a new role as non-executive chairman.
"Gugi's success and involvement over the years with such artists as Tiktak, Anna Eriksson, Apocalyptica and Lauri Tahka & Elonkerju has strongly positioned Universal Music Finland at the forefront of the market," said Antippas in a company statement. "We are grateful for his leadership and dedication these past 17 years, and confident of the future with Jarkko."
