The U.K.'s young menswear brand Topman has developed a platform that gives emerging musical talent the chance to connect with consumers.
Entitled Topman CTRL, the platform will assign one act per month to curate live events in U.K. cities and have creative control of the Topman CTRL blog. Curators are encouraged to express their cultural views -- particularly in regards to music, film, fashion and art -- on the blog.
British electronic three-piece Metronomy kicked off the series on March 2, followed by New Zealand-born Ladyhawke in April. More curators will be announced as Topman CTRL progresses.
The first Topman CTRL event, curated by Metronomy, will be held at London's Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen on March 25. It will feature Kamerakino, Your Twenties, Koko Von Napoo and a DJ set by Metronomy. The April event, curated by Ladyhawke, will be held at the Deaf Institute in Manchester on April 30.
"Topman CTRL is a unique new music series which reinforces our strategy of supporting young talent, both in fashion and music," said Topman marketing director Jason Griffiths in a statement. "After many years of successful music sponsorships, we feel that the time is right to launch our own platform."
