Coran Capshaw has signed country star Tim McGraw to his Red Light Management artist roster. McGraw will be joining Dave Matthews Band and Phish as Capshaw's primary focus. The Curb recording artist had been managed by Scott Siman at Nashville-based RPM Management, which is affiliated with the Front Line Management group.
In a prepared quote, McGraw said, "I am very impressed with the level of resources and creativity that Coran brings to the table. I have been blessed with an incredible career and look forward to breaking new ground with him."
McGraw was the only act still signed to an RPM management contract. Past RPM clients have included Jessica Andrews, Billy Gilman, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Julianne Hough. RPM Music, the company's publishing arm, has had several hits over the last five years, including current Montgomery Gentry single "One in Every Crowd."
"It's been an amazing run with Tim and I wish him nothing but the best,” Siman tells Billboard.biz."While it is a disappointment that we weren't able to re-sign Tim, we are excited about rebuilding the roster of clients and the great things happening at RPM Music Group."
McGraw's career encompasses recordings, touring, music publishing, film, television and books, as well as branding and licensing. Since his career began in the early 1990's McGraw has scanned more than 40 million albums and dominated the charts with 30 No. 1 singles. McGraw has won 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 10 American Music Awards, three Grammys, three People's Choice Awards and numerous other awards.
He and wife, Faith Hill, hold the record for the highest-grossing multi-year tour in country music history, with a box office gross of $142 million dollars for their "Soul2Soul Tour" outings in 2006 and 2007, according to Billboard Boxscore. McGraw has also launched an acting career with 2004's "Friday Night Lights," 2006's "Flicka," followed by "The Kingdom" in 2007 and "Four Christmases" in 2008.
McGraw is currently filming a co-starring role in "The Blind Side" with Sandra Bullock. He is handled by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and his concert tours, are booked by Rod Essig at CAA.
