José Puig has been promoted to GM of Universal Music Mexico, effective immediately.
Puig will be based out of Mexico City, reporting to Victor González, president of Universal Music Mexico and Central America.
In turn, Universal Music Mexico's Sr. VP of AR & Marketing, Robbie Lear, will leave the company. Lear has spent over 13 years at Universal and was previously based out of the label's Miami offices.
Puig was most recently VP of Latin Artists marketing for Universal Music Latin America, based out of Miami. He coordinated Universal's global marketing efforts for its artists in multiple countries and had worked closely in the development of acts like Luis Fonsi and David Bisbal.
A native of Spain, Puig was previously marketing director for Universal Music Spain and international marketing for the label's Polydor division.
"Jose has been an invaluable asset to our company, and his fresh perspective and extensive experience has benefited our artists and business partners," said González in a statement.
