Nydia Laner has been promoted to the post of senior VP of Latin sales & marketing for Universal Music Distribution (UMD). Laner, who was most recently a senior sales executive with Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE), will remain in Los Angeles, reporting to Amanda Marks, executive VP and GM of UMD.
Laner takes over the role previously occupied by Gregg Vickers, who left the company late last year.
In her new role, Laner will lead all sales and marketing efforts for UMLE and all of UMD’s Latin labels, which collectively account for fully half of the entire Latin music market in the country, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Laner has worked with Universal’s sales and distribution departments for many years, and her posts have included senior VP of sales for UMLE and VP of sales for regional Mexican labels Fonovisa and Disa.
