Fernando Perez has been named program director for Latin pop station KLOL-FM (Mega 101) in Houston, effective Sept. 6. KLOL , which belongs to CBS Radio, plays mostly contemporary pop and urban hits and is the top-rated Spanish language station in that market, according to Arbitron ratings for the past three months.
Prior to joining KLOL, Perez was the PD for KLVE, the top-rated Spanish-language station in Los Angeles, which plays mostly recurrent pop. A seasoned radio executive, Perez was also operations manager for Univision stations in San Francisco.
"Having worked with Fernando before, I know firsthand his programming mind, his leadership ability and his success in driving ratings," said Pio Ferro, VP of Hispanic Programming for CBS Radio in a statement.
CBS Rario currently owns six radio stations in the Houston market, including 100.3 KILT-FM, HOT 95-7 KKHH-FM, MIX 96-5 KHMX-FM, Mega 101 FM KLOL, SportsRadio 610-AM and Talk 650 KIKK-AM, as well as the Texans Radio Network broadcast on 100.3 KILT and SportsRadio 610.
