David Clark, former general manager of Fuse, is joining Madison Square Garden Media as executive vice president of integrated sales. Mike Bair, president of MSG Media, will continue his oversight of Fuse as the network searches for a new executive to hold the position, which will be president instead of general manager.
Clark returns to his MSG Media post after only 18 months at the reins of Fuse, which he took over in summer 2010 after previous general manager Gavin Harvey left to oversee independent cable network Sportsman Channel. Despite some aggressive investment in programming, Fuse remains a hot seat for management. Harvey, Eric Sherman and Mark Juris each held the GM position prior to Clark but lasted less than Clark's year-and-a-half stint.
Although Fuse has continued to invest in music programming like "Hoppus On Music," "The Bridge On Fuse" and "Hip Hop Shop," the network has struggled to find much of an audience. During the first quarter of 2012 ending March 31, Fuse ranked No. 93 out of all cable networks in prime-time ratings among total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. It fares best among adults 18 to 34, where it ranked No. 78 during the same time period.
