Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) announced today that Jessica Rivera has been promoted to Senior Vice President /Co-Head of East Coast Operations. Formerly, Rivera worked as the Vice President, Creative, Urban Music, East Coast for UMPG.
"As co-head, Jessica steps up to a new role of becoming a leader of our East Coast office. This new position validates her many accomplishments and growth into a remarkable executive," said Ethiopia Habtemariam, Executive Vice President/Head of Urban Music, in a statement. "Jessica's proven track record as a hit-driven creative executive with a talent for nurturing and developing songwriters, combined with her great relationships both within the industry and within our company and affiliated labels, makes her the ideal choice to co-head UMPG's New York efforts."
Rivera began working with UMPG in 2007 and was promoted to her Vice President position in 2011.

In the past, she has signed songwriters such as Alex Da Kid (Rihanna, Nicki Minaj), Andrew "Pop" Wansel (Big Sean, Kanye West), DJ Khalil (Eminem, Dr. Dre) and Philip Lawrence (Bruno Mars, Cee Lo Green).
Before working at UMPG, Rivera worked at Bad Boy Entertainment as an A&R Representative/Creative Director, then as the Director of A&R at Island Def Jam Music Group. In 2004, she began working at EMI Music Publishing as the Director of Creative/A&R, where she signed Rihanna to a publishing deal.
