TUPAC HOLOGRAM CREATORS FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY: Digital Domain Media Group made huge headlines this year when it debuted its hologram of the late Tupac Shakur at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival. But the buzz wasn't enough to save the special effects company, which filed for bankruptcy protection on Tuesday. Private investment firm Searchlight Capital Partners will buy Digital Domain's core production business for $15 million, pending court approval.

GOLDENVOICE'S COACHELLA PROPOSAL COULD ADD TWO FALL FESTIVALS: Goldenvoice, the promoter behind the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, is aiming to secure a home for its desert festival through 2030 as its current contract with the town of Indio, Calif. expires after the 2013 event. Indio has released documents that if approved, would add up to two music events to the calendar year. Goldenvoice currently puts Coachella over two weekends and the country-focused Stagecoach for one weekend in the spring. In the summary of the long-term proposal is the revelation that the potential deal would allow for up to five festival weekends per year, with two more weekends in the fall that could conceivably be on par with the size of Coachella.

The singer, actress and former American Idol judge will also be involved in marketing strategies at nuvoTV, where she's a part owner. The channel was launched in 2004, and last year changed its name from Si TV to nuvoTV.
JOHN MALONE'S LIBERTY MEDIA BOOSTS SIRIUS XM STAKE TO 49.7 PERCENT: John Malone's Liberty Media has further raised its stake in satellite radio firm Sirius XM Radio to 49.7 percent, positioning itself to potentially take a controlling stake. According to a regulatory filing, Liberty has bought 31 million additional shares to boost its holding in Sirius from 49.2 percent. The move will provide material for questions at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference in LA later today as Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin and Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei are both scheduled to speak.

But to Seth Goldstein, a technology entrepreneur who was one of the creators of Turntable.fm, last year's hot music start-up, the dance world is missing something essential: an online hub for mainstream fans, gathering news, music and videos from all the corners of the Internet. JAY-Z'S MADE IN AMERICA: DID IT WORK?: The Budweiser Made in America festival had a lot of elements of a blockbuster: a headlining set from Jay-Z who brought in hugely popular artists (including Pearl Jam, Run-DMC, Drake, Prince Royce, Skrillex), promotion from Live Nation, live streams from YouTube and Pandora and a title sponsorship from Anheuser-Busch, which shelled out big bucks to put on the festival and advertise it during the Olympics.
