A closer look at the Greatest Gainers, Hot Shot Debuts and Pacesetters on this week's Billboard charts.
Hot Shot Debuts: Hot Shot Debut glory belongs to country superstar George Strait this week, as new set "Troubadour" claims that award and the penthouse suite on both The Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums .
"Troubadour" shifted 166,000 copies its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan, enough to earn Strait his fourth No. 1 on the big chart and his 22nd No. 1 -- the most by any act -- on Top Country Albums .
Radiohead grabs the Hot Shot Debut title on The Billboard Hot 100 with new single "Nude," which debuts at No. 37. The track -- which also had the top debut on Hot Digital Songs , with 60,000 digital downloads this week -- represents Radiohead's first showing on the Hot 100 since 1996, when "High and Dry" from sophomore set "The Bends" reached the No. 78 spot.
Hot Shot Debut honors belong to Trina on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums , where her latest "Still Da Baddest" opens at No. 1 with sales of 47,000. The set also enters The Billboard 200 at No. 6. Both chart debuts mark a career best for the rapper.
Greatest Gainers: George Strait adds another honor to his shelf this week as he earns Greatest Gainer stripes on Top Country Albums with "22 More Hits," which moves 25-17. The collection, which debuted in the Dec. 1, 2007, issue, is up 105%, from 4,000 to 8,000.
Earning Greatest Gainer status on the big chart is the soundtrack to "Alvin and the Chipmunks," which reaches a new high as it shoots 16-5 in its 18th week, thanks to the arrival of the DVD edition on April 1. The set also sees a new sales peak with an 111% sales increase to 51,000.
On Top R&B/Hip-hop Albums , The-Dream's "Love Hate" is the week's Greatest Gainer, moving 11-9 with a 17% sales increase. Meanwhile, single "Falsetto" stands at No. 5 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs .
Over on the Hot 100 , Jordin Sparks' "No Air," a duet with Chris Brown, takes Greatest Gainer/Airplay honors even as it descends 5-7, while Lil Wayne's "Lollipop," featuring Static Major, moves 7-4 to tie up the Greatest Gainer/Digital award. "Lollipop" takes the No. 3 spot on Hot Digital Songs with a plentiful 188,000 downloads this week.
Pacesetters: Another soundtrack gets boosted by an April 1 DVD release as "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" rockets 192-99 in its 16th week to take Pacesetter honors on The Billboard 200 .
Dolly Parton sets the pace on Top Country Albums as her "16 Biggest Hits" moves 46-32 amid a whopping 94% sales increase thanks to her April 1-2 turn on "American Idol." Her new album, "Backwoods Barbie," also benefits, moving 14-13 with a 3,000-unit sales increase, while second single "Jesus & Gravity" reenters Hot Country Songs at No. 56.
On Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums , it's DJ Drama & Lil Wayne's "Dedication2" that sews on Pacesetter stripes, moving 97-76 with a hefty 48% sales increase. The set is in its 43rd week on the chart, having debuted at No. 100 all the way back in October 2006. It peaked at No. 69 in March 2007.
