Mary J. has always shown self-confidence in her music, she's also been unafraid to show the many facets of her personal style. Click the Right Arrow for 23 of the transformations this fashion chameleon has undergone in her two decades in the spotlight.

  • Squeezed into a skin-tight peachy-gold T-shirt and equally tight matching pants, Mary stepped onto the red carpet at the 1993 Soul Train Music Awards with a look that was rugged-yet-edgy. Just months after her debut album, "What's the 411?," hit the top 10 of the Billboard 200, there was no question that the newcomer had as much style as talent.

  • Some people can't pull off white after Labor Day, but Mary J. Blige is not one of them. Mary hit the Feb. 12, 2001 Viva Glam Party in a perfectly wintry look featuring this daring white fur jacket, hot shades, and a diamond necklace. Check out the silver bag and belt tying it all together.

  • Long before 2001, Mary was a star big enough wear whatever she wanted, and at the Dec. 2, 2001 Billboard Music Awards she indeed showed up looking outrageous in every form of the word. Pairing a fisherman hat with pink satin pants and a large multi-colored fur jacket, Blige was all over the place in terms of texture and hue. It was not her best look, but it was certainly iconoclastic.

  • Clad in a brown and orange tropics-inspired sheer dress and matching headpiece, Mary steeped herself in earth tones for the June 6, 2003 Essence Awards.

  • The glittering diva has returned! The singer strutted onto the 2003 Vibe Awards' red carpet in a fierce leather dress and revealing black heels that showed off a pedicure that matched the carpet.

  • Ms. Blige revels in her golden pixie cut on February 7, 2004 at a Pre-Grammy Party. What could be an androgynous 'do on some is super feminine on Blige as she matches it with a stunning bikini-top striped dress.

  • Mary J. glowed with classic glamour at the June 2004 Tony Awards when she lit up the stage in a gorgeous red satin gown.

  • Mary showed she was unafraid of flirting with a somewhat more masculine style when she walked the carpet at the Retrospective of Incomparable Music on Oct. 16, 2005 in this fitted navy blue velvet suit jacket and super-tight satin slacks topped off by curly golden locks and blingy earrings.

  • Continuing to adopt masculine fashion in fabulous, womanly ways, Blige rocked a jockey inspired look complete with riding boots and cap to the Vibe Awards on Nov. 12, 2005.

  • Blige stunned in yet another male-inspired look at the Grammy Awards Nominations Announcements on Dec. 7, 2006. Mary took the suit out of the office, lost the jacket, and turned it into classy on-air wear with this tweedy button-down vest and matching pants paired with ecru knee-high boots and turtleneck.

  • Hello glamazon! Ms. Blige matched the fiery red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards on January 15, 2007 with this vivid scarlet chiffon gown and matching ruby necklace.

  • Keeping with her sparkle, Blige shined at the Grammy Awards on February 2007 in a whimsical white belted gown that showed off her shoulders.

  • Blige seems to be striding confidently down her own fashion path, with each new look out-doing the one prior. Looking stunning and irresistible, she was the picture of perfection in a sculpted brown gown and cascading diamond earrings at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 10, 2007.

  • Is that a vintage Mary? At Target's celebration of her album release on Dec. 18, 2007, the glittering diva referenced her go-to winter look in this all white vision featuring a floor-length white fur jacket.

  • Now this is how you do all white outerwear. The fashion diva has returned as Mary J. Blige performed at the "We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration At The Lincoln Memorial" on Jan. 18, 2009. Her ready-for-the-cold look is complete with a pea coat, white gloves and pale python boots.

  • Blige flaunts a masculine, ready-for-business flair with a super-short pixie haircut, a grey blazer and black trousers as she attends the ribbon cutting for the Mary J. Blige Center for Women on Oct. 22, 2009.

  • How do you stand out on the red carpet? Wear a hot magenta cutout Gucci gown to the 2010 Grammys. Here she was more than pretty in pink in the January sun.

  • Blige struts down the runway with Parisian designer Catherine Malandrino at her show benefiting FFAWN at New York's Museum of Modern Art on June 15, 2010 in a lustrous black Malandrino gown. One of her best looks, Mary deftly merges both her feminine and masculine style personalities in one sleek ensemble.

  • Blige looked fierce in an S&M black leather dress at the Beyonce-hosted launch of Lorraine Schwartz's '2BHAPPY' jewelry collection at Lavo on Nov. 22, 2010. This is how you rock leather in a chic way.

  • With an elegant all black look, Blige shinned in a Nicole Miller dress and stunning asymmetrical black pumps at the 23rd Annual Larry King Cardiac Foundation Gala on April 2, 2011.

  • Blige gives a nod to her '90s style with this leopard print top and orange pant combination at the Collaborations & Cocktails at Intermix party during Fashion's Night Out on Sept. 8, 2011.

  • At the Black Girls Rock Event in New York on Oct. 15, 2011, the singer perfectly blended her love of masculine style with her soft femininity in this blue poet sleeved top -- revealing just the right amount of cleavage -- and black cavalier hat.

  • Mary rocks a black jumpsuit and gigantic hoop earrings at Perez Hilton's "One Night In New York City" gala on Oct. 20, 2011. After almost 20 years in the spotlight, Blige proves she's maintained her fiercely individual persona and style.
