As in the past, composer Philip Glass, who is a VP on the Tibet House board, will also perform and serve as the event's artistic director. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
Bowie and his wife, supermodel Iman, are the honorary chairpersons of the event. Bowie performed at last year's concert, which also featured Moby, Natalie Merchant, Emmylou Harris, Patti Smith, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, poet Dana Bryant, and the Gomang monks, as well as a surprise solo acoustic performance by Dave Matthews.
Packages including tickets to the concert and a post-show dinner party are available through Tibet House (22 West 15th Street New York, NY 10011; 212-807-0563). Concert-only tickets are available via Carnegie Charge (212-247-7800) and the venue box office.
The concert benefits the New York-based Tibet House's goals of preserving Tibetan culture. For more information, visit the organization's official Web site.
