Don't expect the two new "X Factor" judges to be in place by the time open auditions begin March 14 in Kansas City, Mo.

Meetings will be taking pace over the next several weeks with potential judges, at which time executive producer and judge Simon Cowell will go over the demands of the job.

"We waited to see who would contact us before reaching out to others," Cowell said in a conference call Wednesday. "We will meet a number of people over the next few weeks."

Cowell and fellow judge Antonio "L.A." Reid held the conference call to discuss the start of the second season that will include auditions in Austin, Texas, San Francisco and Greensboro, N.C., in addition to online auditions. Cowell and Reid had no details on the season other than to say there will be two female judges added to the panel to replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and the rule that wound up eliminating Rachel Crowe would remain in place.

"We call it the Jennifer Hudson save," Cowell said of the rule wherein judges can save a contestant. "(Used) properly, it's supposed to help the better artist."

While neither Cowell nor Reid would comment on rumors -- Britney Spears as judge? A Whitney tribute? -- Cowell did predict a better a showing among groups in the second go-round than the inaugural run.

"We're entering an interesting phase of pop music," he said, specifically referring to the anticipated U.S. success of One Direction, a boy band created on the U.K. version during the audition rounds. "I hope it inspires the next Backstreet Boys or N Sync or Destiny's Child. There are not that many great (pop) bands these days and I think it separates us from the other shows ("The Voice" and "American Idol")."
