"In recording the album, I really reached down into that place where you are ready to bear everything," she says in a statement. "I dug deeper and sang harder. I gave it my all and that is so rewarding to me."
The album's title track is already finding a home at U.S. country radio outlets. It is No. 19 in its eighth week on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. "With 'What the World Needs' I have found my anthem, a song that speaks to me personally and professionally," Wynonna says.
Other songs on the album include the ballad "Heaven Help Me" and "I Will Be."
The set is the follow-up to 2000's "New Day Dawning" (MCA), which debuted at No. 5 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and No. 40 on The Billboard 200. It has sold 240,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Wynonna has a few summer shows on her schedule, beginning with a July 13 stop in Odessa, Texas. A full fall tour in support of "What the World Needs Now Is Love" is planned.
