Winans Hits No. 1 On U.K. Chart

Comments

"I Don't Wanna Know" (Bad Boy) by Mario Winans featuring Enya and P. Diddy, a long-running No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, goes one better across the Atlantic, debuting at No. 1 on the U.K. singles chart. The cut is already a major hit in several other European territories, enjoying top three berths in Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Norway.

Frankee's three-week run at No. 1 in Britain with "F.U.R.B. (F.U. Right Back)" (All Around The World) thus comes to an end, as the track moves down to No. 2, with "Insania" by Peter Andre (East West) new at No. 3. It's the follow-up to the English-born, Australian-raised vocalist's reissue of "Mysterious Girl," which went to No. 1 in March after his appearance on the reality TV series "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here."

British dance-rap act Faithless debuts at No. 7 with "Mass Destruction" (Cheeky/BMG), the first single from its fourth album "No Roots." The Beastie Boys' "Ch-Check It Out" (Parlophone) enters at No. 8, their best showing since "Intergalactic" hit No. 5 in 1998 and their third U.K. top 10 hit.

Nationwide interest in the Euro 2004 soccer tournament, which opens in Portugal Saturday (June 12), prompted a No. 10 entry for a new version of Liverpool band the Farm's "All Together Now" (Demon) featuring the S.F.X. Boys' Choir. The original was a No. 4 hit in late 1990.

On the album chart, English rock act Keane returns to No. 1 with "Hopes and Fears" (Universal Island), ending Avril Lavigne's one-week reign with "Under My Skin" (Arista) and withstanding the No. 2 debut of the Corrs' "Borrowed Heaven" (Atlantic).

The Calling's "Two" (RCA) enters at No. 8, improving on the No. 12 peak of the American band's "Camino Palmero" in 2002. PJ Harvey's "Uh Huh Her" (Universal Island) arrives at No. 12, notably better than the No. 23 peak of the group's last studio album, "Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea," in 2000.

Lavigne's "Under My Skin" debuts at No. 1 on the European Top 100 Albums chart, while Eamon's "F**k It (I Don't Want You Back)" (Jive) is in a third week atop the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles survey.
