On behalf of Alicia Keys' Keep A Child Alive AIDS charity, celebs including Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Usher and Keys herself sacrificed their lives -- their digital lives, that is.

Starting today (Dec. 1), World AIDS Day, these stars and more began the Digital Life Sacrifice campaign, which serves as a personal pledge to sign off Twitter and Facebook. Once Keep A Child Alive raises $1 million toward fighting HIV and AIDS in Africa and India, the participating musicians, personalities and actors can return to tweeting, @-replying and status updating to their hearts' content.

"It's so important to shock you to the point of waking up," Keys said in a recent interview, regarding the campaign's morbid imagery. "It's not that people don't care or it's not that people don't want to do something, it's that they never thought of it quite like that."

Many participating stars appear in ads portraying them lying in coffins, representing their "digital deaths," while others made videos called the "Last Tweet and Testament," explaining why they're going offline and how to donate to Keep A Child Alive through buylife.org. Watch below.

Alicia Keys (@aliciakeys): "Please, buy my digital life back, and could you kind of hurry up and do it quick? I'm already missing tweeting ya'll."

Usher (@UsherRaymondIV): "This is truly a battle of Raymond vs. AIDS; you know who has to win."

Justin Timberlake (@jtimberlake): Simply, "Go. Now. Do it."

Swizz Beatz (@THEREALSWIZZZ): "Ask your cousin, ask your brother, ask you mother, even go in that couch that's in the living room that's been collecting coins." … "You my fans, and without me there's no you, without you there's no us, and without us there's no them."

Janelle Monae (@JanelleMonae): "Buy my life, buy a lot of it, and if you buy enough, when I come back, I might even share my most secret hairstyling tips with you."

Jennifer Hudson (@IAMJHUD): "Buy my life back -- go on a shopping spree and buy as much of it as you can."

Ryan Seacrest (@RyanSeacrest) : "Please, buy back my life. Until then, Seacrest out."

Jay Sean (@jaysean): "If you know me, you know my motto is, 'I'll sleep when I'm dead.' Well, @JaySean is dead."

Kimberly Cole (@KimberlyCole1): "You know you're going to miss me, so c'mon my loves, buy my life back now."
