Warwick Surrounded By Stars On Duets Album

Comments

Cyndi Lauper, Olivia Newton-John, Kelis and Reba McEntire are just some of the many female singers that will join Dionne Warwick on her upcoming duets effort, "My Friends and Me." Due Nov. 7 via Concord, the album will be helmed by her son, producer Damon Elliott, and revisit Burt Bacharach and Hal David-penned classics like "Wishin' and Hopin'," "Walk on By" and "Close to You."

Mya, Gladys Knight, Gloria Estefan, Celia Cruz, Wynonna Judd, Cheyenne Elliott, Lisa Tucker, Deborah Cox, Da Brat, Chante Moore and Angie Stone are also slated for appearances on the record.

Knight previously sang with Warwick on the 1986 single "That's What Friends Are For" and will join the legendary singer on "I'll Never Love This Way Again." Hip-hop sensation Kelis will try her hand at the "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" theme "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head," while Da Brat will rap about Iraq and Hurricane Katrina alongside Stone, Moore and Cox on "The Windows of the World." Warwick will tackle "Deja Vu" solo.

This spring, Warwick performed "Walk on By" and "That's What Friends Are For" with Bacharach during the fifth season finale of "American Idol." Her last effort, the Christmas collection "My Favorite Time of the Year," was released in 2004.
