The band recorded six albums for IRS from 1980-88; its song "Mexican Radio" became an early MTV staple and reached No. 58 on The Billboard Hot 100. Moreland later backed Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde and recorded under his own name.
He had just released a solo album, "Take It to the Spotlight," under the moniker Marc Moreland's Mess. The album, issued by California-based Kitchen Whore Records, featured contributions from PJ Harvey's John Parish and Jean-Marc Butty. Condolences can be sent to Frederique Moreland, PO Box 1384, Coos Bay, OR 97420.
