Waits, Glass Featured On 'Healing' CD/DVD

Tom Waits, Philip Glass and Anoushka Shankar are featured on the upcoming CD/DVD release "Healing the Divide: A Concert for Peace and Reconciliation." Due July 10 via Anti-, the project was taped at a Sept. 21, 2003, benefit at New York's Avery Fisher Hall for Healing the Divide's Tibetan Health Initiative.

Waits performed a 50-minute set with the Kronos Quartet and Greg Cohen, four songs from which are included here: "Way Down in the Hole," "God's Away on Business," "Lost in the Harbor" and the previously unreleased "Diamond in Your Mind."

"The release of this CD helps us raise awareness about the worsening condition of Tibetans both inside and out of the region," says Healing the Divide co-founder, actor Richard Gere. "The funds raised not only allow us to positively change the lives of the Tibetan people, but will also allow us to promote invaluable Tibetan Buddhist concepts of peace and compassion."
