Vintage Miracles, Supremes Heading To DVD

Comments

Universal will on Nov. 21 release two video anthology DVDs -- "Smokey Robinson & The Miracles: The Definitive Performances 1963-1987" and "The Supremes: Reflections" -- which feature rare television appearances, live performances and early footage of the respective R&B groups.

The former disc, which was produced by Reelin' in the Years Productions, contains 14 full-length performances by the Miracles, including "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" and "Bring It on Home to Me" taped in 1963 at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater.

The DVD also features television performances of "Shop Around," "Ooo Baby Baby" and "I Second That Emotion," among other hits, and an in-depth interview with Robinson and his Miracles colleagues Pete Moore and Bobby Rogers. Robinson's solo career is represented with early 1980s TV performances of "Cruisin'" and "Just To See Her."

Produced by Historic Films, "The Supremes: Reflections" oofers footage of the group's appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and "Hullaballoo," in addition to rare clips of "Baby Love" and "Stop! In The Name Of Love," a 1966 promo film for "You Keep Me Hanging On" and uncut scenes from the documentary "Anatomy of Pop."
