Back to SXSW coverage

Billboard.com's SXSW 2010 coverage is delivered via Sprint 4G.

Billboard's cameras caught up with the xx at SXSW Friday (March 19) to hear about the band's songwriting methods and excitement about getting back into the creative process and then we captured them playing live.

"We're really excited to work on new things, but touring we found out, isn't our most creative place," xx-er Romy Madley Croft explained. "We all like to work quite separately when we write songs and then come together and develop them." Croft continued,  "We kind of need a bit of natural separation to get back to being creative."

The xx plans on wrapping up their extensive tour this fall to focus on writing new material.  Upcoming dates with Hot Chip and Swedish band jj will follow SXSW.
