Sympathizing with the lovelorn, Verve Records will next month issue "When Love Goes Wrong," a compilation of "15 of the most thoroughly depressing songs ever recorded." Due Jan. 28, just in time for Valentine's Day, the set sails the stormy seas of love with a host of jazz greats, including Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Mel Torme, Sarah Vaughan, and Billy Eckstine.

With a list price of $11.98 ("much cheaper than another miserable date," according to the label), the set will feature "gleefully misanthropic liner notes" written by author Harvey Pekar.
